I am currently working on providing more detailed information for parents but I hope the following will give you an insight into the way I work.
I work with primary aged children who need extra support with their maths. I also support older children and young people who are experiencing difficulties and who would benefit from revisiting earlier stages mathematics.
I love to discover the ways in which different individuals think about maths ideas. My approach is to work with the child and discuss with them the areas where they feel they need extra support and find out a bit more about their views on how they learn and what is making things hard for them. I help children to get comfortable with the areas they find tricky and to understand and accept the way their brain works.
I work with children with all kinds of learning differences including dyscalculia, ADHD, dyspraxia and ASD. Other children may not have received a formal diagnosis of a developmental or learning difference but are still affected, perhaps to a lesser degree, by the same kinds of barriers to learning.
Your child may have a particular learning strength in one area combined with a difficulty in another. This I can be a challenge but it is one I love to work with.
Parents, if you would like to discuss any concerns you have about your child’s learning in maths, please send me an email and I will respond as soon as I can.
Get in touch if:
- you know your child is struggling
- you feel their self esteem is suffering
- you have tried to help and got nowhere
- you have tried to help them but feel you have not made progress
- you have tried to help but it has been distressing for either of you
- you need some ideas and support
- you want to communicate your concerns
I would love to hear from you.
